2004-11-11 - 6:18 p.m. the reel big fish concert was awesome! first off, katie and michael came to pick me up and we made our way to blacksburg. we had to get our tickets from blake who was at marching band practice. so we were standing out in front of the band when i hear over the loud speaker "look, we have visiters. everybody wave at the visiters." i didn't realize he was talking about us til i looked over and saw michael waving. then the guy was like "maybe they're spies from maryland." and then everyone booed (and some even hissed). so i turn to michael and i say "ya know, they're booing us. we should probably leave soon." then blake brought us our tickets and we were on our way again. we stopped to eat at some vegitarian place. definately not my thing, but i gave it a try. i got some sort of pizza but it was on some werid kind of bread and it had marinara(sp) sauce and salmon on the inside. the sauce was cold. it was gross. i didn't finish it. then there was the actual concert. the opening band was called stars fell on. thats a terrible name. they weren't too bad. i really liked some of their songs and they had some i didn't like, but thats ok. then reel big fish came out. scott asked how everyone was doing and everybody screamed so he said something along the lines of "i guess that's good. sometimes when people scream its a bad thing, but sometimes its a good thing so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt." they have a new trumpet player cause tyler got kicked out. i really like the new guy. they introduced him by saying, "this is our new trumpet player. he's drunk." there was somebody in the crowd that smelt like cheese and some girl grinded up against me because she thought i was her boyfriend for a second. he didn't look too happy about that. they covered "enter sandman" and that was freakin cool. and they played "take on me" which made me very happy. they played a lot of new songs too. their new record is gonna be sweet. after they went off stage, everybody started cheering "everybody's doin the fish, yeah, yeah, yeah!" (which is the beginning of their song "trendy" for those of you that don't know.) so aaron, scott and the new guy come out and aaron says they're the only 3 guys in the band that know/remember how to play "trendy". so they tried to play it with just the guitar and the two trumpets and it fell apart, but it was so funny. then the rest of them came out and they played two more songs just for the heck of it. i got a shirt that says, "reel big fish is latin for sexy." and i got some stickers and buttons and a free pink, mushroom-shaped whistle. while michael and i were waiting for katie some girl walked up to me and pinched my cheek and said "you're so cute." then she looked at michael who was laying on a cough with his arm over his face and said "...you're cute too." on the way back we got super lost and then even more lost trying to get to the ihop. we never made it to ihop. finally we made it back to radford and we decided to walk to subway, but it closed the second we got there. so we ate breakfast food items at joe's diner. the french toast is fantastic. it was really late so katie and michael crashed in my dorm room. they got to meet a very drunk/high carter. i dont think i'd ever seen him that drunk. it was quite amusing. yesterday, me and a bunch of the guys on my floor played some tackle football. the guy that doesn't know my name called me the irish kid cause i have red hair. he doesn't know its not my natural color. so somewhere along the way i got the nickname, the lucky leprechan. we won and they gave me mvp cause i took a lot of big hits...and aparently i'm lucky. go team. i'm so sore from it, but it was so much fun. i won $8 from carter today playing ping pong. song of the day(1): reel big fish - "she's famous now" song of the day(2): five iron frenzy - "get your riot gear" song of the day(3): relient k - "five iron frenzy is either dead or dying" song of the day(4): none more black - "ice cream with the enemy" quote of the day: "10 is a lot of bucks." -strong bad outie. |
